2010 BATTLE OF THE DESERT’S MARTIAL ARTS CHAMPIONSHIP

Important Note:

All the students must wear complete martial arts uniform with rank belt to participate.

No shoes are allowed. No one can move up or down belt divisions, any division with few contestants will be added to another division.

FORMS

            * Only traditional forms are allowed.

Student must announce:  1) Their Name, 2) Their School 3) Their Form

JUDO SWEEP

            * Only for kids 5-10 years old.

* 3 chances are given, 2 out of 3 take-downs wins.

* One minute round.

* No kicking, punching. Any unsportsman-like conduct is grounds of       disqualification

SPARRING

            Sparring equipment is mandatory. Includes, gloves, feet, groin cup (males), chest protectors and helmets.

Point Sparring: 1 round of 2 minutes or 5 points, whichever comes first. If tied Sudden Death  (first point made wins).

White, Yellow, Purple, and Orange: No face only helmet contact. Kicks are allowed.

Blue and up: Face and body contact is allowed with control.

POINT SYSTEM:

            Punches to the body……………………………       1 point

            Kicks to the body………………………………       1 point

            Punch to the head………………………………       1 point

            Kicks to the head……………………………….       2 points

1) Excessive contact is cause for disqualification at the discretion  of ring referee. This includes, knock-out, head jerking, groin shots. Sweeping is allowed, two seconds to score, sweeping is not a point.

2) No elbow, knee strikes, hitting the back or spine, or groin area.

3) No hook punches or spinning fist punches. After 2 warning, minus –1 point.

4) No scoring outside the ring. Running outside the ring with out contact gets warning.          After 3 warnings minus –1 point.

5) Unsportsman-like conduct, disrespect  to other contestants, referees, judges or any tournament official are grounds of disqualification.
